Martin Junginger received his PhD in 2005 and is Full Professor Biobased Economy and head of the Energy and Resources group of the Copernicus Institute, Utrecht University. He was leader of IEA Bioenergy Task 40 on Sustainable International Bioenergy. He works on topics such as biomass sustainability, biofuels for marine and aviation applications, and logistics and international trade of biomass and biofuels. He is editor of several books and was contributing author to the bioenergy chapter of the IPCC Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources (SRRES). He is also co-chair of the Standards Committee of the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP).
