Prof. Dr. Ning Gan received his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in
chemistry from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, in 2002 and 1996,
respectively. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mass Spectrometry and
Biosensing Laboratory, University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland, from 2014 to
2016. He has been a Professor at Ningbo University, Ningbo, China, since 2012.
He has been the Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering since 2021. He
is currently the Associate Director of the Mass Spectrometer Laboratory, which
is a Key Laboratory of Zhejiang Province. He was a visiting scholar at the
University of Simon Fraser in 2019–2020. He has been engaged in research on
rapid biosensors of biochemical, food safety, and medical laboratories in the
last 20 years. He has developed some rapid analysis and screening apparatus for
multiple veterinary drug residues and pathogenic bacteria in foods. He also
worked on piezoelectric sensors for early diagnosis of Acquired Immune
Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
