Dr. Coco is a Researcher at University of Milano-Bicocca. She graduated in 1994 in Biological Sciences (University of Milano,); she obtained the title of Specialist in Pharmacology (1997) and PhD in Neuropharmacology (2001, CNR-Institute of Neuroscience, Milano). She was awarded with a few fellowships and awards; she spent a period at Yale University (Dept. Cell Biology 1997-98). Dr. Coco’s main research interest concerns the molecular mechanisms underlying therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in neurodegenerative diseases. In particular, the lab is focused on MSC paracrine action exerted through Extracellular Vesicles on CNS cells. Past research interests: in vitro characterization of the mechanisms of synaptogenesis and neurotransmitter release in hippocampal neurons and astrocyte secretion. Dr. Coco is member of the: Italian Society for Neuroscience (SINS), Milan Center for Neuroscience (NEUROMI), the Federation European Neuroscience Societies (FENS); the Forum of Italian Researchers on Mesenchymal Stromal Stem Cells (FIRST).
