Namkyun Im received their B.Sc. Degree in Navigation Science from Korea Maritime University, Busan, South Korea, in 1992, and their Ph.D. Degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Osaka University, Japan, in 2002. He has worked as a Senior Researcher at the Ship and Ocean Research Center, Samsung Heavy Industries, South Korea, for three years. He is currently a Professor of Mokpo National Maritime University, South Korea. His research fields are as follows: ship automatic control study, ship maneuvering simulation and its applications, marine traffic simulation, ship free-running modelling, and marine/ship environmental issues.
