Dr. Wasundara Fernando is a lecturer (probationary) in the B.Pharm Degree Program, Faculty of Medical Sciences. She obtained her PhD in Cancer Biology from Dalhousie University in 2018. Her research explores the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of a novel flavonoid fatty acid derivative (PZ-DHA) to treat metastatic breast cancer. Wasundara was also awarded a cancer research traineeship award from the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute in Halifax, Nova Scotia in recognition of her research findings. Her skills and expertise include cancer biology, medicinal plants, metastasis, breast cancer, cancer research, triple negative breast cancer, pharmacokinetics, tumor angiogenesis, and cancer stem cells.
