Erik Laurini graduated in Medicinal Chemistry (2006). He got a PhD in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies at the University of Trieste in 2010. From 2010 to 2015, he was a Post-doc Researcher at the Department of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Trieste in collaboration with the Oncology Institute of Italian Switzerland (IOSI) and Otsuka Pharmaceuticals. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste. His main research activities are focused on projects in the area of computer-aided molecular simulation of biological systems related to drugs, drug resistance in cancer treatment, and the study of nanocarriers for gene therapy and drug delivery. Moreover, he is also involved in the multiscale molecular modeling of nanostructures and nanomaterials for material science. With an h-index of 30 (Scopus, April 2024), he is the author of about 150 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings in the field of the multiscale molecular modeling of complex systems.
