Dr. Iolie Nicolaidou is an Assistant Professor in Emerging Technologies for Learning at the Department of Communication and Internet Studies at the Cyprus University of Technology. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Educational Technology from Concordia University in Canada (2010), a Master’s degree in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University in the USA (Fulbright scholar, 2002), and a BA in Primary Education from the University of Cyprus (2000). Her expertise is in the design, implementation, and evaluation of emerging technologies for learning to support the development of students’ 21st-century skills (information literacy, media literacy, e-safety, inquiry learning, evidence-based decision making). She designed or evaluated various tools, including interactive web-based learning environments, simulations, digital games, gamified applications for mobile devices, game-based student response systems, and augmented and virtual reality applications. She has published more than 70 papers in international peer-reviewed high-impact journals and proceedings of international conferences.
