Axel Makay Katz is a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he obtained the Bachelor degree in Biology (2012), Master degree in Zoology (2015), and PhD degree in Zoology (2019). He has fieldwork experience in all types of biomes in Brazil and different types of aquatic environments. In the last 10 years has been working with Siluriformes, mainly Trichomycteridae, with interest in the systematics and taxonomy of the group. He is member of the Brazilian Society of Ichthyology and the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists.
