Dr. Jon Dron is a full professor and associate dean (learning & assessment) in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Athabasca University, Canada, where he teaches in the School of Computing and Information Systems. He has authored over 150 publications in the fields of technology and education, including several award-winning papers and three books, the latest of which, How Education Works: Teaching Technology and Technique, is available as an open access publication from AU Press. He has post-secondary qualifications in philosophy (BA), information systems (MSc), learning and teaching in higher education (PGCert), and learning technologies (PhD, University of Brighton, UK). He is a UK National Teaching Fellow. Prior to joining academia, his diverse career included many years as a professional singer and, later, as a manager/developer of IT.
