Wioleta Chajęcka-Wierzchowska completed her Master's and Doctorate degrees in Food Microbiology from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland, where she is currently working as an Assistant Professor. Her scientific activity focuses on the study of the genetic basis of antibiotic resistance and virulence, including enterotoxicity and the ability to form biofilms of microorganisms isolated from food, especially ready-to-eat food. She has gained scientific experience at the University of Lisboa, the University of Catania, the University of Barcelona, the University of Thessaloniki, the Complutense University of Madrid, Leipzig University, and the Institut Pasteur in France. She is a laureate of an outgoing scholarship awarded by the Society of Applied Microbiology and the Federation of European Microbiologists. She participated in the works of the Working Group Intergovernmental Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (TFAMR) at the FAO/WHO.
