Raquel Marin is neuroscientist and the first female full professor in Physiology at La Laguna University. She got her PhD at Laval University (Quebec, Canada). She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University (New York, USA). She has focused her research to brain neurodegenerative diseases associated with aging as well as nutrients for brain health. Presently, she leads the laboratory of Cell Neurobiology, that essentially works on the mechanisms of age-related neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson disease. She has been awarded with the research award of the Women’s Association of University students (Laval University, Quebec), the gold medal of Economy and Competitiveness (2016) and the ExpoFinancial award for science dissemination (2019). She is the co-author of 137 research articles of international impact, 15 book chapters, 6 books. She has participated in 28 research grants mainly as PI. Noticeably, she has been the lecturer in 85 research congresses, and was the plenary speaker of 34 congresses. H index: 32 (google scholar). Patents. 6.
