Environmental issues are getting greater attention now that experts and authorities are paying attention to global warming. The industrial segment is mostly to blame for these environmental hitches, according to past research. The industrial sector is actively addressing the issues brought on by climate change. This study’s primary focus is on business environmental strategies in green innovation, which takes into account the company’s goals for sustainable development. This study also takes into account the importance of corporate management (CEO, ownership concentration, and gender diversity) for green innovation. This study evaluated fact by natural resource theory, resource dependency theory, agency theory and Porter hypothesis. Results from practical generalized least squares and generalized moments approaches provide various conclusions. The findings of this study demonstrated that companies with business environmental strategies as, environmental regulation, proactive environmental plans, corporate social responsibility, and board sustainable committees were more likely to implement green innovation practices. Additionally, corporate management (CEO, ownership concentration, and gender diversity) supports businesses’ efforts to innovate in the green sector. Importantly, our research showed that the importance of corporate management (CEO, ownership concentration, and gender diversity) in business environmental policies cannot be overstated (environmental regulations, proactive environmental strategies, corporate social responsibility, board sustainable committee, and green innovation). green innovation, as well. These findings significantly expand the scant amount of knowledge on corporate environmental initiatives and green innovation. In order to encourage green innovation for higher profitability while minimizing negative industrial consequences, this study also provides a number of suggestions and recommendations for stakeholders, including regulators, owners, and governments.

Low-carbon tourism reflects the degree of environmental concern in the tourism industry and is also the foundation of green, sustainable, and ecological tourism. The transformation of the tourism industry, known as the sunrise industry, to a low-carbon pattern contributes to the sustainable development of tourism cities. In this study, an objective evaluation indicator system for low-carbon tourism cities is constructed from the three dimensions of economy, environment, and society, followed by the determination of the weights of the evaluation indicators using an analytic network process model. Ten low-carbon pilot cities in China are evaluated using statistical data of 2014 and 2019. The main research results show that when a city’s economy has reached a certain level, with the development of the economy and individuals’ income and the gradual reduction in environmental pollution, the city’s development level of low-carbon tourism will also be better. Moreover, although these ten low-carbon pilot cities have similar development levels in terms of their social dimension, they have differed greatly in their economic and environmental dimensions. The tourism cities with better economic development levels also rank higher in terms of low-carbon environment and ecological environment, and the overall development level of low-carbon tourism is also better, which shows the obvious Matthew effect as a whole. This study contributes a set of objective evaluation index systems in line with the connotation of low-carbon tourism and assesses the dynamic difference between the cities. This study provides targeted policy recommendations for the construction of low-carbon tourism cities in China.

China has become the major stakeholder in global photovoltaic (PV) technology. However, the existing mechanistic interpretation of “what promotes the technological progress of the Chinese PV industry” is controversial. This paper takes China’s A-share listed PV enterprises from 1999 to 2019 as the research sample and uses a panel fixed-effect regression model to empirically test the impact of research and development (R&D) investment and government subsidies on the technological progress of PV enterprises. The results show that there is an “N”-shaped nexus between R&D investment and technological progress, and most PV enterprises are in the climbing stage of the N-shaped curve. With the development of the PV industry, the nexus will undergo a transformation from inverted U-shaped to N-shaped, indicating that R&D investment is a key driver of PV technological progress. Yet, government subsidies are a “double-edged sword”. They have a significant positive direct effect on PV technological progress but also a negative moderating effect. Tax returns play a positive incentivizing role, while financial subsidies play a negative moderating role. This study provides a policy basis for the timely reduction of financial subsidies and increased R&D investment to promote technological progress in China’s PV industry.
