Based on a survey among students in economics at universities from the Romanian region of Moldova (RoMold) and Republic of Moldova (ReMold), this study explores the influence of familial, background, and individual characteristics on the migration intentions abroad. Both regional models built after using data mining tools and binary logistic regression analysis show a powerful emphasis on our own value recognition, while the other influences indicate clear asymmetric patterns in terms of migration intentions. For RoMold, there is a low level of interpersonal trust, a strong accent on individual liberty and favoritism, a low respect for traditions, and the belief that Orthodoxy could be a migration cause. The paternal occupation and the maternal religiosity matter for their migration plans. For ReMold, the parental migration experience, a low level of parents’ education attainment, and a powerful internal locus of control are considered the main triggers for migrating abroad. For both particular regions, a highly interactive distribution map and two corresponding risk-prediction nomograms provide basic support for replication, fast visual insight, and consistent support for interpretations directly in probabilistic terms. We intend to apply an inductive approach in order to extend the analysis to different types of respondents and geographic areas.

Consumer behavior has changed considerably over time. In recent decades, people have used resources at a rate that exceeds the total consumed throughout history. This paper aims to address the determinants of the smartphone purchase decision, emphasizing gender differences, price influence, and previous online shopping experience. The methodology used combines a bibliometric review of the literature to identify major trends in consumer behavior research and a quantitative research survey that provides insight into consumer behavior in the smartphone purchase process. The survey highlights brand preferences, purchase patterns, product selection criteria, and the influence of socioeconomic factors on the purchase decision, identifying the determinants of online versus physical store purchase decisions among young consumers in the northeastern, east, and southeastern regions of Romania. Thus, our analysis aims to identify the variables influencing consumer preferences and to assess the statistical significance of these differences using quantitative methods and relevant statistical tests. The collected data came from a valid sample of 456 respondents for the general analysis and 271 valid cases for the online shopping analysis. The analysis shows that gender is a significant predictor of online purchase decisions, with men being 2.65 times more likely to purchase a smartphone online than women. The collected data were analyzed using t-tests, Chi-square tests, and logistic regression to assess the influence of variables on online smartphone purchase intention.

The article proposes an exploratory approach that combines literature-based analysis of digital transformation and competitiveness in battery manufacturing ecosystems with survey evidence collected from Romanian companies operating in technology-related sectors. The empirical approach described provides indirect ecosystem-level evidence from Romanian firms potentially relevant to future battery value chains, as full-fledged manufacturers only now entering the strategic horizon. The study is founded on the need for companies to achieve a consistent and committed transformation that goes beyond adopting and integrating various digital technologies, reaching aspects related to production facilities, human–machine integration, and smart governance approaches. The objective of the research is to study the mutual impacts between facilities and processes on one hand, and technology on the other hand, in achieving competitiveness and sustainability for battery manufacturing ecosystems. In this regard, the paper investigates organizational capabilities, workforce adaptability, and digital technology deployment as enabling factors for a successful digital transformation. The results point to an improvement potential that may contribute to the resilience of the emerging battery industry under challenging conditions, while preparing for sector expansion brought about by developing electromobility and renewable energy options. The framework developed customizes general digital transformation capabilities into battery-manufacturing-specific requirements such as traceability, circularity, regulatory readiness, user safety, and ecosystem interconnectivity.

Online shopping is expanding rapidly in emerging European markets, yet many consumers still combine digital channels with offline verification. This study asks whether the resulting heterogeneity among young consumers is genuinely complex or reducible to a simpler structure. Drawing on technology-acceptance and perceived-risk perspectives, it analyses survey data from 457 Romanian university students, of whom 269 were routed to eight attitudinal items on online smartphone purchasing. The questionnaire was distributed to students at two Romanian universities through institutional email and faculty social media accounts, yielding a non-probability convenience sample; no probability-based selection procedure was applied. After examining the dimensionality and reliability of the items through exploratory factor analysis, K-means clustering was used to segment respondents, and the solution was checked against hierarchical clustering. Two segments emerged: cautious, lower-online-orientation consumers, who report lower perceived convenience, speed, price advantage, and overall use of online purchasing, and online-oriented adopters, who view digital channels as efficient and convenient. Rather than many fine-grained segments, the data point to a dominant behavioural axis, namely overall orientation towards online purchasing. The findings provide evidence consistent with a parsimonious two-segment account of consumer heterogeneity in a rapidly developing digital market, and they suggest differentiated omnichannel strategies: confidence-building and risk-reduction measures for cautious consumers and experience optimisation for digital adopters.

Buying online has become ordinary behaviour for European consumers, yet selling online remains a minority practice among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study asks whether the two have developed in step within countries. Using Eurostat household and enterprise ICT survey data for the EU-27 from 2015 to 2024 (268 complete country-years), we measure their alignment as a within-year standardised difference. The measure captures relative cross-country positioning between two adoption indicators; it does not quantify unmet demand or transaction volumes. Cross-country dispersion in consumer adoption fell steeply and significantly (SD trend −0.91 per year, R2 = 0.96; country-clustered bootstrap 95% CI [−1.25, −0.51]), while dispersion in SME participation drifted upward only slightly and not significantly, and the annual correlation between the two edged down from 0.539 to 0.415 without reaching significance under the same bootstrap. SME-leading and consumer-leading observations retained their category in roughly 90% of year-to-year transitions (Cohen’s κ = 0.74), whereas the aligned category showed lower retention. Consistent with this, the within-country association between the two series is small and statistically non-significant in both the two-way fixed-effects specification (β = 0.116, p = 0.112, N = 268) and the first-difference specification (β = 0.091, p = 0.055, N = 239), and it remains weak across nine robustness specifications and under wild cluster bootstrap and equivalence testing. It is, however, stronger when member states are weighted by economic size; this changes the estimand and does not establish heterogeneity by economy size. Consumer adoption is therefore an incomplete indicator of national e-commerce development, and the two dimensions warrant separate monitoring.

Rosa canina processing generates substantial residual biomass, including pomace, seed cake, and peel-associated fractions, underexploited despite high contents of vitamin C, fibre, phenolics, carotenoids, and seed lipids. This review critically synthesizes evidence on rosehip processing-residue composition, compares conventional and emerging extraction technologies, and evaluates validated food application pathways for waste-derived ingredients. Literature screening was combined with bibliometric term co-occurrence analysis to map the field and organize evidence into composition, extraction, application, and translation themes. The data show that rosehip pomace is a fibre- and polyphenol-rich stream suitable for drying, milling, and cereal-based foods, while seed-derived residues better support lipid recovery and secondary phenolic extraction. Ultrasound and microwave assisted extraction offer the best laboratory-scale phenolic recovery from solid residues, whereas supercritical CO2 extraction remains the most mature option for seed-oil recovery. Application studies indicate that rosehip-derived ingredients can improve antioxidant capacity, nutritional value, and functional positioning in bakery products, fermented dairy systems, meat formulations, and beverages, although texture changes, colour shifts, sedimentation, and flavour balance remain important constraints. Overall, the evidence supports rosehip waste valorisation as a technically feasible circular-economy strategy, but industrial implementation requires standardized raw-material characterization, route-specific mass balances, shelf-life validation, and techno-economic optimization.
