Biography

Dr. Natalia Karpukhina is a Contributing Researcher, Lecturer in Dental Physical Sciences and a Solid State NMR Spectroscopist at Queen Mary University, London, and has used 31P and 19F NMR to follow Demineralisation and Remineralisation processes. She obtained her PhD in Physical Chemistry at St. Petersburg State University in 2001. She served as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at St. Petersburg State University from 2001 to 2004, was a Guest Scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research from 2004 to 2005, a Research Associate from 2005 to 2007 and a Research Associate at the Department of Chemistry, Department of Materials, Imperial College London from 2007 to 2009. She has been working as a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London since 2009. She is working in the area of dental and biomedical materials. She uses solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to investigate the structure of these materials. This technique is powerful and informative in resolving the structure of amorphous and crystalline solids.
