Prof. Dr. Sarwan K Dhir is a Professor of Plant Biotechnology and a Plant Science Program Coordinator at Fort Valley State University. He obtained his B.S. in Biological Sciences, M.S. in Botany, and Ph.D. in Botany (Plant Biotechnology) from Jodhpur National University, Jodhpur, India in 1979, 1981, and 1986, respectively. He then worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL from 1989 to 1991. He joined Fort Valley State University as a post-doctoral fellow in September 1995. His research interests include genetic engineering of plants for medicinal uses, phytoremediation, and biomass and biofuel production.
