Prof. Eduardo Rocha is a Full Professor at ICBAS - U.Porto. He is a member of the CIIMAR research centre. He holds a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences. Beginning in 1987, he was an intern at the Cell Biology Lab, having been a research fellow at the (former) INIC (1989). He began teaching in 1989, as a Cell Biology Monitor. He was hired as a Trainee Assistant in Histology and Embryology in 1991, after a public selection process. He reached the top of his academic career in 2008. Since 1991, he has performed management tasks at ICBAS and CIIMAR and in support of central structures of the University of Porto. Among his elected and appointed positions at ICBAS, he has been a Member of the Pedagogical Council (for 30 years) and its President (8 years), Member of the Scientific Council (23 years), and Director of MSc and PhD degrees, laboratory, and department. At CIIMAR, he was a Member of the Board of Directors (7 years) and President of the General Assembly. His teaching activities include courses on human and comparative histology and embryology, research and communication methods, the exposure and fate of xenobiotics in the organism, and topics of toxicopathology. His current main research interests are endocrine disruption and the toxicological impacts of xenosteroids, PAHs, PCBs, and pesticides on the liver and gonads, namely, using fish as model organisms.
