Cultural heritages are the most important source of communication between the past and the future. The importance of documenting and preserving cultural heritage is becoming more and more clear. Traditional documentation techniques have been replaced by modern documentation techniques along with developing technology. Especially, the increase in the measurement accuracy of electronic devices has increased the accuracy of documentation studies. In this study, terrestrial laser scanning technique (TLS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry technique were used. The evaluation of terrestrial laser scanning data was performed in Scene software, and the data obtained by UAV photogrammetry technique was performed in Agisoft metashape and Pix4D software. The sensitivity of the data obtained, the costs of the software and the techniques used were compared with each other. The prominent features of the techniques compared with each other were revealed at the end of the study.
Rockfall event is common on rocky terrain, and it threatens people. Recent advances in remote sensing technologies allow us to model the terrain with high accuracy and resolution. In this study, we show the application of modeling a rockfall site in three-dimensional (3D) using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The acquisition of information about discontinuities in the rock masses using 3D point clouds is vital to characterize rockfall dynamics. We obtained 3D spatial information and point clouds of a rocky slope from acquired images. We extracted 10 discontinuity sets from the 3D model as they have significant effects on the failure mechanism. Details in mapping discontinuities have improved significantly with the help of point clouds. The results are beneficial for modeling the terrain of inaccessible areas with high resolution and obtaining information from those areas. This paper shows how can point cloud analysis be applied to characterize discontinuity sets.

Together with developments in software technology, various interpolation methods allow terrain surfaces to be better identified. The accuracy rate in volume calculations is directly proportional with representation in the best form. The non-metric cameras, which are assembled to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), provide convenience in the photogrammetric measurements. Sensitive images are obtained with less cost by the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. The purpose of this study was to take photos from the air with the help of UAVs and to make volume calculations by using photogrammetric techniques. At the end of the study, the photogrammetric method had been completed in a shorter period than with the traditional method. The values found as the result of both methods have been found to be compatible with each other in the ratio of 99.33% in terms of sensitivity.

Today, orthophotos and digital surface models (DSM) are produced using low-cost unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Ground control points (GCPs) are used in the process of indirectly georeferencing unmanned aerial systems (UAS) images. A minimum of three GCPs is required for the process, however, increasing this number can lead to higher accuracy regarding the final results. The aim of this study was to determined how many GCPs and what kind of distribution is required in order to obtain high precision results. In the study, three scenarios were investigated. The GCPs were tested in edge distribution in the first scenario, in the middle distribution in the second scenario, and in homogeneous distribution in the third scenario. In the first scenario, the edge distribution was supported by the central GCPs, while in the second scenario, the central GCPs were supported by the edge GCPs. Each scenario was initiated with four GCPs. The number of GCPs was increased by four, resulting in the utilization of a total of 35 GCPs. In addition, 30 check points (CHP) were used. The number of orthophoto and DSM produced in the study was 33. In the study, the best planimetric accuracy was obtained with the first scenario, namely with the edge distribution (RMSE xy: 0.033m). Altimetric accuracy was obtained with the third scenario, namely with homogeneous distribution (RMSE z: 0.048m).
