Biography

Stefan Auer received the Dipl.Ing.(Univ.) degree in geodesy, and the Dr. Ing. degree in remote sensing, from the Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany, in 2005 and 2011, respectively. Since December 2014, he has been a Senior Researcher and Project Manager with the Remote Sensing Technology Institute, German Aerospace Center, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. As well as managing projects in the fields of multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, he works on the alignment of multimodal remote sensing data. He developed the open-source 3D SAR simulator RaySAR which can be used to better understand the nature of prominent SAR image signatures based on object models. In the context of his doctoral thesis, he spent three months as a Guest Researcher with the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Naples “Federico II”. His research interests include 3-D simulation/data fusion techniques and the interpretation of high-resolution SAR and optical images.
