Prof Elhadi Adam has a PhD in hyperspectral remote sensing. His main research area is remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) applications in applied environmental science and precision agriculture. He specializes in vegetation mapping and monitoring. To this end, he explores field-based, airborne, and spaceborne remote sensors to detect subtle vegetation patterns, such as biochemical concentration, invasive species mapping, wetland health, herbaceous biomass distribution, and characterizing landscape heterogeneity. His current research focuses on developing new remote sensing techniques based on machine learning and deep learning algorithms to monitor vegetation and crop parameters. Prof Adam is also interested in algorithm development for the classification of remotely sensed imagery.
