The precise delineation of urban aquatic features is of paramount importance in scrutinizing water resources, monitoring floods, and devising water management strategies. Addressing the challenge of indistinct boundaries and the erroneous classification of shadowed regions as water in high-resolution remote sensing imagery, we introduce WaterDeep, which is a novel deep learning framework inspired by the DeepLabV3 + architecture and an innovative fusion mechanism for high- and low-level features. This methodology first creates a comprehensive dataset of high-resolution remote sensing images, then progresses through the Xception baseline network for low-level feature extraction, and harnesses densely connected Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) modules to assimilate multi-scale data into sophisticated high-level features. Subsequently, the network decoder amalgamates the elemental and intricate features and applies dual-line interpolation to the amalgamated dataset to extract aqueous formations from the remote images. Experimental evidence substantiates that WaterDeep outperforms its existing deep learning counterparts, achieving a stellar overall accuracy of 99.284%, FWIoU of 95.58%, precision of 97.562%, recall of 95.486%, and F1 score of 96.513%. It also excels in the precise demarcation of edges and the discernment of shadows cast by urban infrastructure. The superior efficacy of the proposed method in differentiating water bodies in complex urban environments has significant practical applications in real-world contexts.

Ship target detection is an important guarantee for the safe passage of ships on the river. However, the ship image in the river is difficult to recognize due to the factors such as clouds, buildings on the bank, and small volume. In order to improve the accuracy of ship target detection and the robustness of the system, we improve YOLOv3 network and present a new method, called Ship-YOLOv3. Firstly, we preprocess the inputting image through guided filtering and gray enhancement. Secondly, we use k-means++ clustering on the dimensions of bounding boxes to get good priors for our model. Then, we change the YOLOv3 network structure by reducing part of convolution operation and adding the jump join mechanism to decrease feature redundancy. Finally, we load the weight of PASCAL VOC dataset into the model and train it on the ship dataset. The experiment shows that the proposed method can accelerate the convergence speed of the network, compared with the existing YOLO algorithm. On the premise of ensuring real-time performance, the precision of ship identification is improved by 12.5%, and the recall rate is increased by 11.5%.

In Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), information freshness is a crucial indicator for monitoring road traffic, which is measured by Age of Information (AoI). This paper studies the problem of vehicle data packet scheduling and power allocation for AoI minimization in a Manhattan grid Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) network. The challenge of the problem originates from the dynamic wireless environment and different AoI requirements of vehicles. To solve the above problems, a single-agent Markov Decision Process (MDP) is modeled. And we propose a Dueling Double Deep Q-Network (D3QN)-based Scheduling and Power Allocation Method (SPAM). The D3QN agent is devoted to minimizing the AoI of each vehicle. In addition, Priority Experience Replay (PER) technology is developed to solve the difficulty of obtaining high-value learning experiences. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms baseline D3QN approaches in average AoI by 22.6 %.

Latent fingerprints are among the most important and widely used evidence in crime scenes, digital forensics and law enforcement worldwide. Despite the number of advancements reported in recent works, we note that significant open issues such as independent benchmarking and lack of large-scale evaluation databases for improving the algorithms are inadequately addressed. The available databases are mostly of semi-public nature, lack of acquisition in the wild environment, and post-processing pipelines. Moreover, they do not represent a realistic capture scenario similar to real crime scenes, to benchmark the robustness of the algorithms. Further, existing databases for latent fingerprint recognition do not have a large number of unique subjects/fingerprint instances or do not provide ground truth/reference fingerprint images to conduct a cross-comparison against the latent. In this paper, we introduce a new wild large-scale latent fingerprint database that includes five different acquisition scenarios: reference fingerprints from (1) optical and (2) capacitive sensors, (3) smartphone fingerprints, latent fingerprints captured from (4) wall surface, (5) Ipad surface, and (6) aluminium foil surface. The new database consists of 1,318 unique fingerprint instances captured in all above mentioned settings. A total of 2,636 reference fingerprints from optical and capacitive sensors, 1,318 fingerphotos from smartphones, and 9,224 latent fingerprints from each of the 132 subjects were provided in this work. The dataset is constructed considering various age groups, equal representations of genders and backgrounds. In addition, we provide an extensive set of analysis of various subset evaluations to highlight open challenges for future directions in latent fingerprint recognition research.

As a generalization of several fuzzy tools, picture fuzzy sets (PFSs) hold a special ability to perfectly portray inherent uncertain and vague decision preferences. The intention of this paper is to present a Pearson’s picture fuzzy correlation-based model for multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) analysis. To this end, we develop a new correlation coefficient for picture fuzzy sets, based on which a Pearson’s picture fuzzy closeness index is introduced to simultaneously calculate the relative proximity to the positive ideal point and the relative distance from the negative ideal point. On the basis of the presented concepts, a Pearson’s correlation-based model is further presented to address picture fuzzy MADM problems. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to examine the usefulness and feasibility of the proposed methodology.

This paper investigates an intuitionistic fuzzy multiple attribute decision-making method based on weighted induced distance and its application to investment selection. Specifically, an intuitionistic fuzzy weighted induced ordered weighted averaging operator is proposed to eliminate the drawbacks of existing methods by extending the functions of the order-induced variables. The main advantage of the proposed operator is its dual roles of the order-inducing variables that can simultaneously induce arguments and moderate associated weights. A further extension of the proposed operator is its adaptation towards measuring intuitionistic fuzzy information more effectively. In addition, a multiple attribute decision-making model based on the proposed distance operators is proposed. Finally, the practicability and validity of the proposed model are illustrated by using a numerical example related to investment selection.
