Name: Mario Chiariello Position: Group Leader at the Institute for Cancer Research and Prevention (ISPRO) and at the Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC), National Research Council (CNR) Siena, Italy. Education/training: Medical Doctor, University of Napoli, Italy; PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Pathology, University of Napoli, Italy; Post-doctoral training in Molecular Oncology (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA). Personal Statement: My current research interests focus on the mechanisms of cellular responses to stress and their implications in cancer as well as in other human diseases. Particularly, my group has contributed to elucidate the role of different kinases in cell proliferation and transformation, by regulating transcriptional responses and the autophagic machinery. I have a broad background in medicine and biology, with specific training in molecular oncology, cell biology, and signal transduction. I have been and currently am the Project or Unit Coordinator in several grants and collaborate with numerous researchers in Italy and abroad.
