Gibran Fuentes-Pineda received the BS degree in computer engineering and the MS degree in microelectronics engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico in 2006 and 2008, respectively. In 2011, he obtained his PhD degree from the University of Electro-Communications of Tokyo. From 2011 to 2014, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Since December 2014, he has been a Research Associate at the Institute for Research in Applied Mathematics and Systems of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning, large-scale data mining, and service robotics.
