I am an Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pécs, Hungary, with more than two decades of experience in university teaching and scientific research. My main research interests include pharmacognosy, phytotherapy, and the biological effects of essential oils and their active constituents, with particular emphasis on their antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties investigated in in vitro and in vivo models. I teach Pharmacognosy, Phytotherapy, Essential Oils, and Herbal Medicines in Practice to pharmacy, biotechnology, and medical students in both Hungarian and English. Mentoring young scientists is an important part of my academic work, and I supervise both undergraduate research students and PhD candidates. I am also actively involved in national and international scientific organizations and currently serve as Vice-Chair of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Symposium on Essential Oils (ISEO). My professional mission is to strengthen the scientific foundations of phytotherapy and essential-oil research, promote the evidence-based use of medicinal plants, and inspire the next generation of pharmacists and researchers.
