In Wi-Fi fingerprint positioning, what we should most care about is the distance relationship between the user and the reference points (RP). However, most of the existing weighted k-nearest neighbor (WKNN) algorithms use the Euclidean distance of received signal strengths (RSS) as distance measure for fingerprint matching, and the RSS Euclidean distance is not consistent with the position distance. To address this issue, this paper analyzes the relationship between RSS similarity and position distance, propose a novel WKNN based on signal similarity and spatial position. Firstly, we obtain the weighted Euclidean distance (WED) by balancing the size between the RSS difference and the signal propagation distance difference according to the attenuation law of the spatial signal. Then, we obtain the approximate position distance (APD) by making full use of the position distances and WEDs between RPs. Finally, the nearest RPs can be selected more accurately based on the APDs between the user and different RPs, and the position of user can be estimated by the proposed WKNN based on the APD (APD-WKNN) algorithm. In order to fully evaluate the proposed algorithm, we use three fingerprint databases for comparison experiments with eight fingerprint positioning algorithms. The results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the positioning accuracy of WKNN algorithm.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) sensor technology is known to achieve high-precision indoor localization accuracy in line-of-sight (LOS) environments, but its localization accuracy and stability suffer detrimentally in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions. Current NLOS/LOS identification based on channel impulse response’s (CIR) characteristic parameters (CCP) improves location accuracy, but most CIR-based identification approaches did not sufficiently exploit the CIR information and are environment specific. This paper derives three new CCPs and proposes a novel two-step identification/classification methodology with dynamic threshold comparison (DTC) and the fuzzy credibility-based support vector machine (FC-SVM). The proposed SVM based classification methodology leverages on the derived CCPs obtained from the waveform and its channel analysis, which are more robust to environment and obstacles dynamic. This is achieved in two-step with a coarse-grained NLOS/LOS identification with the DTC strategy followed by FC-SVM to give the fine-grained result. Finally, based on the obtained identification results, a real-time ranging error mitigation strategy is then designed to improve the ranging and localization accuracy. Extensive experimental campaigns are conducted in different LOS/NLOS scenarios to evaluate the proposed methodology. The results show that the mean LOS/NLOS identification accuracy in various testing scenarios is 93.27 %, and the LOS and NLOS recalls are 94.27 % and 92.57 %, respectively. The ranging errors in LOS(NLOS) conditions are reduced from 0.106 m(1.442 m) to 0.065 m(0.739 m), demonstrating an improvement of 38.85 %(48.74 %) with 0.041 m(0.703 m) error reduction. On the other hand, the average positioning accuracy is also reduced from 0.250 m to 0.091 m with an improvement of 63.49 %(0.159 m), which outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches of the Least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithms.
For future Internet of Things (IoT) systems, data-driven and dynamic spectrum-sharing schemes can significantly improve the spectrum utilization and efficiency. However, conventional centralized architecture of such dynamic IoT spectrum-sharing systems is often considered to be nontransparent, costly, and vulnerable to potential attacks and single-point failures. To address the aforementioned issues, a blockchain-based dynamic spectrum-sharing scheme has been proposed and investigated in this work, which aims at enhancing the system by providing desirable features, such as decentralization, transparency, immutability, and auditability. By considering the privacy and transaction dynamics issues when blockchain is integrated into spectrum-sharing systems, a privacy-preserving double auction mechanism based on differential privacy is developed for incentivizing spectrum sharing, where the time-varying valuations of the spectrum resources are also taken into consideration. In the proposed auction, a winner determination problem (WDP) is formulated to decide the winning bidders and spectrum allocation. A deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based method is then proposed for efficiently solving the WDP. The proposed auction mechanism can be integrated with smart contracts on blockchain platforms. Furthermore, the computation of the DRL-based method for solving the WDP is designed as part of the consensus mechanism in the blockchain. Theoretical analysis show that the proposed privacy-aware double auction mechanism satisfies the properties of differential privacy, individual rationality, and truthfulness. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the performance of the spectrum-sharing approach.
A Global Satellite Navigation System (GNSS) cannot provide normal location services in an indoor environment because the signals are blocked by buildings. The Beidou satellite navigation system (BDS)/GPS indoor array pseudolite system is proposed to overcome the problems of indoor positioning with conventional pseudolite, such as time synchronization, ambiguity resolution and base stations. At the same time, an algorithm for Doppler differential positioning is proposed to improve the indoor positioning accuracy and the positioning coverage of the system, which uses the Doppler difference equation and Known Point Initialization (KPI) to determinate the velocity and position of the receiver. Experiments were conducted to verify the proposed system under different conditions; the average positioning error of the Doppler differential positioning algorithm was 7.86 mm in the kinematic test and 2.9 mm in the static test. The results show that BDS/GPS indoor array pseudolite system has the potential to make indoor positioning achieve sub-centimeter precision. Finally, the positioning error of the proposed algorithm is also analyzed, and the data tests show that the dilution of precision (DOP) and cycle- slips have a significant impact on the indoor positioning accuracy; a cycle-slip of a half-wavelength can cause positioning errors of tens of millimeters. Therefore, the Doppler-aided cycle-slip detection method (DACS) is proposed to detect cycle-slips of one cycle or greater than one, and the carrier phase double difference cycle-slip detection method (CPDD) is used to detect cycle slips of a half-wavelength.

Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a high-precision positioning and navigation technology, it faces significant challenges due to the abundance of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions in complex indoor environments. In this study, we introduce the bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) to identify and mitigate the impact of NLOS paths using the channel impulse response (CIR). We derive three new CIR features that comprise both the time and energy characteristics of CIR sequences. These proposed features are fused with fuzzy probabilities into BERT (F-BERT), in order to identify the NLOS paths. Based on the NLOS identification results from F-BERT, a ranging classification and mitigation strategy with another BERT is further designed to enhance the ranging and positioning accuracy. The experimental results indicate that F-BERT outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms such as least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM), convolutional neural network (CNN), and CNN with long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM) by 12.5%, 13.9%, and 14.9%, respectively, in terms of NLOS identification accuracy with LOS and NLOS recall. The proposed BERT also outperforms the existing algorithms by 36.2% in ranging error reduction in an NLOS environment. Furthermore, our proposed algorithms similarly outperform existing algorithms in mean positioning accuracy by 37.9%. Finally, our BERT algorithms achieve generality as, although they were trained in one environment, they are shown to still work well in another unknown environment.
In order to solve the problem of pedestrian positioning in the indoor environment, this paper proposes a high-precision indoor pedestrian positioning system (HPIPS) based on smart phones. First of all, in view of the non-line-of-sight and multipath problems faced by the radio-signal-based indoor positioning technology, a method of using deep convolutional neural networks to learn the nonlinear mapping relationship between indoor spatial position and Wi-Fi RTT (round-trip time) ranging information is proposed. When constructing the training dataset, a fingerprint grayscale image construction method combined with specific AP (Access Point) positions was designed, and the representative physical space features were extracted by multi-layer convolution for pedestrian position prediction. The proposed positioning model has higher positioning accuracy than traditional fingerprint-matching positioning algorithms. Then, aiming at the problem of large fluctuations and poor continuity of fingerprint positioning results, a particle filter algorithm with an adaptive update of state parameters is proposed. The algorithm effectively integrates microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensor information in the smart phone and the structured spatial environment information, improves the freedom and positioning accuracy of pedestrian positioning, and achieves sub-meter-level stable absolute pedestrian positioning. Finally, in a test environment of about 800 m2, through a large number of experiments, compared with the millimeter-level precision optical dynamic calibration system, 94.2% of the positioning error is better than 1 m, and the average positioning error is 0.41 m. The results show that the system can provide high-precision and high-reliability location services and has great application and promotion value.
