Dr. Xiping Wang is a Research Forest Products Technologist and an Acting Project Leader at the US Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), Madison, Wisconsin. His research focuses on nondestructive testing and evaluation of wood, condition assessment of wood structures, urban tree hazard assessment, and heat sterilization for invasive species mitigation. He has led and conducted fundamental and applied research in the development of new methodologies and procedures for evaluating wood quality of standing trees, logs, and structural timber, and assessing the structural integrity of historic wood structures. He is an elected fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS) and the associate editor of the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (published by the American Society of Civil Engineers). He also serves as the research group coordinator of IUFRO D5.01 and holds adjunct faculty appointment at Mississippi State University and Michigan Technological University.
