Emerging network computing technologies extend the functionalities of industrial IoT (IIoT) terminals. However, this promising service-provisioning scheme encounters problems in untrusted and distributed IIoT scenarios because malicious service providers or clients may deny service provisions or usage for their own interests. Traditional nonrepudiation solutions fade in IIoT environments due to requirements of trusted third parties or unacceptable overheads. Fortunately, the blockchain revolution facilitates innovative solutions. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-based fair nonrepudiation service provisioning scheme for IIoT scenarios in which the blockchain is used as a service publisher and an evidence recorder. Each service is separately delivered via on-chain and off-chain channels with mandatory evidence submissions for nonrepudiation purpose. Moreover, a homomorphic-hash-based service verification method is designed that can function with mere on-chain evidence. And an impartial smart contract is implemented to resolve disputes. The security analysis demonstrates the dependability, and the evaluations reveal the effectiveness and efficiency.

Since network storage services achieve widespread adoption, security and performance issues are becoming primary concerns, affecting the scalability of storage systems. Countermeasures like data auditing mechanisms and deduplication techniques are widely studied. However, the existing data auditing mechanism with deduplication cannot solve the problems such as high cost and reliance on trusted third parties in traditional approaches, and it also faces the problem of repeated auditing of data shared by multiple-tenant. This article proposes a blockchain-based deduplicatable data auditing mechanism. We first design a client-side data deduplication scheme based on bilinear-pair techniques to reduce the burden on users and service providers. On this basis, we achieve a trustworthy and efficient data auditing mechanism that helps to check data integrity by using both the blockchain technique and bilinear pairing cryptosystem. The blockchain system is used to record the behaviors of entities in both data outsourcing and auditing processes so that the corresponding immutable records can be used to not only ensure the credibility of audit results but also help to monitor unreliable third-party auditors. Finally, theoretical analysis and experiments reveal the effectiveness and performance of our scheme.

With the development of wireless communication and positioning technology, location-based services (LBSs) have been gaining tremendous popularity, due to its ability to greatly facilitate the people’s daily lives. Meanwhile, it also entails the risk of location privacy disclosure. To address this issue, general solutions introduce a single trusted anonymizer between the users and the location service provider (LSP). However, a single anonymizer offers limited privacy guarantees and incurs high communication overhead in continuous LBSs. Once the anonymizer is compromised, it may put the user information in jeopardy. In this paper, we propose a dual privacy preserving (DPP) scheme in continuous LBSs to protect the users’ trajectory and query privacy. Our scheme introduces multiple anonymizers between the users and LSP, and combines with Shamir threshold mechanism, dynamic pseudonym mechanism and K-anonymity technology to improve the users’ trajectory and content privacy in continuous LBSs. An anonymizer alone cannot get the users’ trajectory and query contents, and it thus can be semi-trusted. Our scheme can enhance the users’ privacy and effectively solve the single point of failure in single anonymizer structure. At the same time, the query authentication can guarantee the correctness of the query results. The analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has the ability to protect users’ trajectory and content privacy effectively, and to reduce the computation and communication overhead of the single anonymizer.

Internet of Things (IoT) devices and the edge jointly broaden the IoT’s sensing capability and the monitoring scope for various applications. Though accessing sensing data and making decisions through IoT smart devices turns out to be commonplace, it is challenging to guarantee user privacy and preserve the accuracy (integrity) of the collected data. The IoT smart devices frequently lose either IoT user’s privacy or data integrity. This also makes it crucial to put a threshold on the cost of computation and load of the IoT devices, as gradually more IoT services demand access to the resources that devices offer. In this paper, we propose BalancePIC, a scheme that attempts to preserve a balance in the three aspects (user privacy, data integrity in edge-assisted IoT devices, and the computational cost). It achieves the balance through a balanced truth discovery approach and a proposed enhanced technique for data privacy, which are used in IoT device and edge server interactions. It authenticates the IoT user participation with privacy in the truth discovery process through a biometric-ECC based authentication algorithm. The nature of the BalancePIC scheme is to straightforwardly provide the likelihood for a simple amendment on the cryptography technique and weight assignment. This lessens the overall computational cost for the IoT user devices but also restricts the communications between the user devices and the edge server, which is important for data integrity. We present an enhanced technique to preserve privacy by guarding the user from potential threats and suspicious data collection parties. To achieve this, BalancePIC takes steps to blur the original sensory data of the device by processing results in groups called zones. Simulation result analysis provides evidence for the balance preservation in the three aspects.

Today, in the field of malware detection, the expanding limitations of traditional detection methods and the increasing accuracy of detection methods designed on the basis of artificial intelligence algorithms are driving research findings in this area in favour of the latter. Therefore, we propose a novel malware detection model in this paper. This model combines a grey-scale image representation of malware with an autoencoder network in a deep learning model, analyses the feasibility of the grey-scale image approach of malware based on the reconstruction error of the autoencoder, and uses the dimensionality reduction features of the autoencoder to achieve the classification of malware from benign software. The proposed detection model achieved an accuracy of 96% and a stable F-score of about 96% by using the Android-side dataset we collected, which outperformed some traditional machine learning detection algorithms.

In order to improve the security and efficiency of image encryption systems comprehensively, a novel chaotic S-box based image encryption scheme is proposed. Firstly, a new compound chaotic system, Sine-Tent map, is proposed to widen the chaotic range and improve the chaotic performance of 1D discrete chaotic maps. As a result, the new compound chaotic system is more suitable for cryptosystem. Secondly, an efficient and simple method for generating S-boxes is proposed, which can greatly improve the efficiency of S-box production. Thirdly, a novel double S-box based image encryption algorithm is proposed. By introducing equivalent key sequences {r, t} related with image ciphertext, the proposed cryptosystem can resist the four classical types of attacks, which is an advantage over other S-box based encryption schemes. Furthermore, it enhanced the resistance of the system to differential analysis attack by two rounds of forward and backward confusion-diffusion operation with double S-boxes. The simulation results and security analysis verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The new scheme has obvious efficiency advantages, which means that it has better application potential in real-time image encryption.
