Adriano dos Santos Silva holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the University of Porto. He earned his academic degrees in Brazil and Portugal, including an MSc focused on catalytic wastewater treatment, and later pursued a PhD funded by FCT–MIT Portugal on sustainable solid waste management. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers and delivered over 80 conference presentations. He is currently a researcher at the Mountain Research Center (CIMO) and the Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics (CeDRI), both at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. His work spans from the synthesis of nano- and macro-structured carbon materials for environmental applications to the digitalization of waste management systems. Presently, he is investigating the development of 3D-printed carbon materials and applying machine learning techniques to optimize their synthesis.
