Professor Dr. Qinghe Zhang is currently a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Hydraulic Engineering Intelligent Construction and Operation, Tianjin University (since 2002). From September 1984 to July 1988, he studied for a bachelor's degree in mechanics at Fudan University. In March 1991, he obtained a master's degree in biomechanics from Tianjin University, and in June 1994, he obtained a doctorate in coastal engineering. He also serves as a director of the China Oceanographic Society and the Coastal Estuary Branch of the China Oceanographic and Limnological Society. His research topics mainly include (1) sediment movement mechanism and numerical simulation, (2) coastal estuary evolution and port channel engineering, (3) interaction between waves, buildings, and foundations, and (4) marine satellite remote sensing and marine environment.
