Professor Pak is currently an Emeritus Professor at Kyungpook National University (KU) and the director of the Research Institute for Dok-do and Ulleung-do Island at KU. Professor Pak has been working on the origin and evolution of various Ulleung Island endemic plants as well asa floristic study of Korea.
