Sari Tuomikoski is working as Senior Research Fellow as a university researcher in the Research Unit of Sustainable Chemistry. She graduated in 2014 with the doctoral thesis topic "Utilization of gasification carbon residues: activation, characterization and use as an adsorbent". She is Associate Professor in the area of Applied Chemistry, especially research related to water treatment. Her research topics focus on wastewater treatment, the utilization of industrial side streams and the circulation of nutrients as recycled fertilizers. Detailed research interests lie in the field of (electro)chemical precipitation, adsorption, new materials (such as alkali-activated materials, carbon materials) as sorbent or catalyst support and nutrient uptake and utilization in recycled fertilizers.
