Yukiyo Shimizu graduated from the University of Tsukuba in 2000 and started working at the University of Tsukuba Hospital as an orthopedic doctor in 2001. She was certified as an orthopedic specialist in 2011 and a rehabilitation specialist in 2014. She received a Ph.D. in medical science in 2017. Currently, she is an associate professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba. Her research interests include medical rehabilitation: prescription and development of novel orthoses and prostheses, robotic rehabilitation, and medical support for para-athletes.
