Biography

Dr. Chanho Pak is an associate professor of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) since August of 2016. Before moving to GIST, he worked as a vice president at the Battery Research Center of Samsung SDI for directing the development of MEA for fuel cell electric vehicles. He received his BS (1990), MS (1992), and Ph. D. (1995) degrees from the Department of Chemistry of KAIST with a synthesis of metal nanoparticles in the Y zeolite. He was a postdoctoral associate at the Department of Chemical Engineering of Yale University in 1999 and the College of Chemistry at the University of California at Berkeley in 2000. He was named as Master of Samsung Electronics at end of 2010 during his career at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology from 1995 to 2013. He has 122 research publications and more than 150 granted patents in the field of fuel cell and nanostructured materials. Currently, his research focuses on the development of a non-Pt and Pt supported catalysts for the PEMFC MEA using the nanostructured carbon and hybrid support. Also, he is about to study the oxygen and hydrogen evolution catalysts for green hydrogen production.
