Prof. Manuel Aguilar is the Head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service and a Professor of Medicine at Cadiz University. He has previously been the President of the Spanish Diabetes Society, the Director of the Comprehensive Diabetes Plan of Andalusia, and the Scientific Deputy Director of the Biomedical Research and Innovation Institute of Cádiz (INiBICA). He has been conducting diabetes research for over 30 years, including a stay in the USA (Washington University, St. Louis, MO) in 1992–1993. He has led more than 20 research projects in competitive calls (one of them as the Scientific Director of a work package in an EU project). Since 1997, he has coordinated the Endocrinology and Autoimmunity Research Group of the Andalusian Research and Innovation Plan (PAIDI; CTS-368).
