Dr. Da Chen is a Professor at the College of Environment and Climate, Jinan University. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Nanjing University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. from William & Mary in 2009 and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Wildlife Research Center of Canada between 2010 and 2012. His research employs a multi-disciplinary, integrated framework to evaluate wildlife and human exposure to contaminants of emerging concern (CECs). Priority CECs of interest include flame retardants, plastic additives, perfluorinated chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products (PPCPs). Specific research interests are as follows: (1) to identify and characterize the sources, distributions, and fate of CECs in the environment; (2) to elucidate the exposure pathways for humans and wildlife and the environmental/ecological factors influencing exposure; and (3) to address toxic and ecotoxic effects in humans and wildlife via laboratory animal studies.
