Rui L. Reis is the Vice President of R&D at the University of Minho, Portugal, and is the director of the 3B’s Research Group and ICVS/3B’s Associate Laboratory of UMinho. He is the CEO of the European Institute of Excellence on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. His main area of research is the development of biomaterials from natural origin polymers for bone replacement and fixation, drug delivery carriers, and tissue engineering scaffolding for different tissues. He is an FBSE, FTERM, and NAE member. He has been awarded the ERC AdG and PoC, ESAFORM 2001 Scientific Prize, Jean Leray Award 2002, and Stimulus to Excellence Award 2004.
