Kazuhito Satomura is a Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Stomatology, Tsurumi University School of Dental Medicine, Yokohama, Japan. After graduating from the University of Tokushima School of Dentistry, he enrolled in the First Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Tokushima Graduate School of Dentistry. He earned a PhD in 1992 with a thesis entitled “The osteogenic differentiation mechanisms of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.” Thereafter, he was appointed as Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and Associate Professor in the First Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the University of Tokushima. During this period, he was a visiting fellow for three years in the NIDCR/NIH. In 2009, he was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Stomatology, Tsurumi University School of Dental Medicine. His research interests and expertise include stem cell biology, molecular and cellular biology, regenerative medicine, oral surgery, and oral medicine.
