Prof. Dr. Roberta Gaziano received her degree cum laude in Medicine at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 1990, and her Ph.D. in Experimental Medical Microbiology at the University of Pisa in 1998. In 2001, she became a specialist in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”; from 2001 to 2007, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the same university; and in 2008, she received a Researcher position at the Institute of Microbiology. Now, she is an Associate Professor (since 2015) of Microbiology in University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The areas of her research are the interaction between the microorganism and host, with particular attention to the mechanisms of the innate and adaptive immune response against fungal pathogens; the use of combination therapies with biological response modifiers (BRMs), in conditions of immune suppression associated with fungal infections and cancer.
