Fedor Simko is a professor of normal and pathological physiology, Head of the Institute of Pathophysiology, Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia, and cardiologist at the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine of the same faculty. He graduated in general medicine in 1981 and became a professor in 2000. He received an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship (1992–1994). He is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC). In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious prize of "Scientist of the Year of the Slovak Republic” and in 2023 "Prize for Science and Technology" for hypertension and heart failure research. He has authored over 151 publications, with a total citation number of 2205 and an h-index of 33 (Scopus).
