Prof. Dr. Maria Filomena Botelho is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, graduated with a degree in medicine in 1981, and completed her Ph.D. in medicine (physiological sciences—biophysics) in 1992 and rehabilitation medicine (physiological and technological sciences—biophysics) in 2000. She is the director of the Biophysics Institute of FMUC and leader of the Research Line Modelling in Cancer at CIMAGO-iCBR, CIBB. She has more than 30 years of experience in research on biophysics, development of animal models for human diseases (cancer, cardiac ischemia), nuclear oncology (from molecular biology to molecular imaging), photodynamic therapy in vitro and in vivo models, and radiopharmacy.
