Dr. Raul Augustin Mitran is a scientific researcher at the “Ilie Murgulescu” Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Romanian Academy. He obtained a Ph.D. at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest in 2012. From 2012 to 2015, he was employed as a scientist/project manager at Sara Pharm Solutions, SRL (Romania), working in the field of solid-state chemistry and the phase transition of pharmaceutically active compounds, as well as a technical supervisor on electrochemical fuel cell research. In academia, he has worked as a post-doc researcher on two research projects on mesoporous silica carriers for drug delivery applications at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (2012–2016). Furthermore, he was also awarded a post-doctoral grant at the same institution for the study of physisorption at the mesopore level (2014–2015). He was employed as an associate professor at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest from 2015 to 2018. In addition, his research topics mainly include antimicrobial activity, usnea barbata dry ethanol extract, polyphenolic extract encapsulation and anticancer and antimicrobial activities.
