I am a Research Scientist (3rd Degree) at the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry – INCDCP-ICECHIM in Bucharest, where I work at the interface of chemical engineering, biotechnology and the circular bioeconomy. I earned my PhD from the Doctoral School of Applied Chemistry and Materials Science at the University Politehnica of Bucharest in 2017. During my doctorate I completed research stays at the University of Nottingham's National Centre for Industrial Microwave Processing and at the University of Valladolid, the latter through the COST Action EUALGAE. My research focuses on turning agro-industrial side-streams and wastewaters into value within a "zero-waste" approach. I use microalgae to recover nutrients from dairy effluents and biogas digestate, and I develop green extraction methods, such as microwave- and ultrasound-assisted techniques, to recover bioactive compounds from biomass. I have led and coordinated national projects that integrate biogas, microalgae and biofuels. I have co-authored 15 ISI articles and 6 patent applications, and I review for several international journals. My mission is to develop practical, sustainable bioprocesses that close resource loops and support a greener economy.
