Dr. Narayan D. Chaurasiya received his Master's degree in Biochemistry from the A. P. S. University, MP, India. He obtained his doctoral degree in in Biochemistry from the University of Kurukshetra, India. He held several positions at the National Center for Natural Products, University of Mississippi, School of Pharmacy as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, Associate Research Scientist, and Research Scientist. Then, Dr. Chaurasiya recently joined the Drug Discovery Division, Southern Research, Birmingham Alabama as a Research Scientist. Dr. Chaurasiya’s research interest focuses on the study of natural products from natural sources (plants) as well as the derivatives/semi-synthetic bioactive natural products/compounds. He has conducted research focusing on the evaluation of biological activity, enzymatic activity, inhibition, and molecular mechanisms of compounds for different targets, especially monoamine oxidases (MAOs) and neurological disorders. He has also conducted research targeting on hematotoxicity, drug metabolism, in vivo pharmacokinetics, plant secondary metabolites, and biosynthetic pathways, as well as different types of assay and method development for new drugs and lead compounds.
