Biography

As a post-doctoral researcher, I am working for the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. First, I designed and coordinate two clinical research projects with a focus on the nutritional status of high risk oncological patients undergoing 1. oesophagectomy or 2. cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic IntraPEritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). Next, I am focussing on nutritional research for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In our department, we try to unravel all facets of IBD, the genetics, microbiome, metabolome and environmental factors. I am responsible for the dietary factors in IBD. We developed a special food frequency questionnaire for patients with IBD. Furthermore, we designed an anti-inflammatory diet for these patients, which will soon be tested in an RCT. As a clinical epidemiologist, I support other co-workers in their research questions and teach "Malnutrition in Hospitals" in the master module "Nutrition in Medicine". Since February 2018, I am a member of D-ECCO committee, the Dieticians committee at European Crohn's and Colitis organisation. Since March 2019, I am chair of the D-ECCO committee.
