Prof. April L. Risinger is an Associate Professor at Tenure, UT Health San Antonio, and Greehey Distinguished Chair in Targeted Molecular Therapeutics. She received her BS in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University and PhD in Cellular Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has been awarded Best Undergraduate Thesis in Molecular Genetics, Texas A&M University (2000), the Barbara Bowman Postdoctoral Award and Fellowship (2012), the Voelcker Young Investigator Award (2017), and the Jack L. Beal Award for best paper by an earlier career investigator in the Journal of Natural Products (2022). She is also a member of Mays Cancer Center, UT Health San Antonio. Her research areas include drug discovery, cancer, natural products, microtubule-targeted agents, and taccalonolides.
