Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is characterized as the commonest neurodegenerative illness that gradually degenerates the central nervous system. The goal of this review is to come out with a summary of the recent progress of numerous forms of sensors and systems that are related to diagnosis of PD in the past decades. The paper reviews the substantial researches on the application of technological tools (objective techniques) in the PD field applying different types of sensors proposed by previous researchers. In addition, this also includes the use of clinical tools (subjective techniques) for PD assessments, for instance, patient self-reports, patient diaries and the international gold standard reference scale, Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS). Comparative studies and critical descriptions of these approaches have been highlighted in this paper, giving an insight on the current state of the art. It is followed by explaining the merits of the multiple sensor fusion platform compared to single sensor platform for better monitoring progression of PD, and ends with thoughts about the future direction towards the need of multimodal sensor integration platform for the assessment of PD.

Autonomous driving technology has made significant advancements in recent years, yet challenges remain in ensuring safe and comfortable interactions with human-driven vehicles (HDVs), particularly during lane-changing maneuvers. This paper proposes an improved double quintic polynomial approach for safe and efficient lane-changing in mixed traffic environments. The proposed method integrates a time-to-collision (TTC) based evaluation mechanism directly into the trajectory optimization process, ensuring that the ego vehicle proactively maintains a safe gap from surrounding HDVs throughout the maneuver. The framework comprises state estimation for both the autonomous vehicle (AV) and HDVs, trajectory generation using double quintic polynomials, real-time TTC computation, and adaptive trajectory evaluation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to embed an analytic TTC penalty directly into the closed-form double-quintic polynomial solver, enabling real-time safety-aware trajectory generation without post-hoc validation. Extensive simulations conducted under diverse traffic scenarios demonstrate the safety, efficiency, and comfort of the proposed approach compared to conventional methods such as quintic polynomials, Bezier curves, and B-splines. The results highlight that the improved method not only avoids collisions but also ensures smooth transitions and adaptive decision-making in dynamic environments. This work bridges the gap between model-based and adaptive trajectory planning approaches, offering a stable solution for real-world autonomous driving applications.

Background/Objectives: Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and demands precise segmentation and classification of nuclei for effective diagnosis and disease severity assessment. This study aims to evaluate the performance of HoVerNet, a deep learning model, for nuclei segmentation and classification in CMYC-stained whole slide images and to assess its integration into a user-friendly diagnostic tool. Methods: A dataset of 122 CMYC-stained whole slide images (WSIs) was used. Pre-processing steps, including stain normalization and patch extraction, were applied to improve input consistency. HoVerNet, a multi-branch neural network, was used for both nuclei segmentation and classification, particularly focusing on its ability to manage overlapping nuclei and complex morphological variations. Model performance was validated using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Additionally, a graphic user interface (GUI) was developed to incorporate automated segmentation, cell counting, and severity assessment functionalities. Results: HoVerNet achieved a validation accuracy of 82.5%, with a precision of 85.3%, recall of 82.6%, and an F1 score of 83.9%. The model showed powerful performance in differentiating overlapping and morphologically complex nuclei. The developed GUI enabled real-time visualization and diagnostic support, enhancing the efficiency and usability of DLBCL histopathological analysis. Conclusions: HoVerNet, combined with an integrated GUI, presents a promising approach for streamlining DLBCL diagnostics through accurate segmentation and real-time visualization. Future work will focus on incorporating Vision Transformers and additional staining protocols to improve generalizability and clinical utility.
