Yanjin Zhang is an associate professor at the University of Maryland. He completed a M.S. in microbiology and immunology at the National Control Institute of Veterinary Bioproducts and Pharmaceuticals, Beijing, China, and Ph.D. in immunobiology at the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine, Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA, in 1989 and 1998, respectively. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, USA, from 1998 to 2001. His research focuses on molecular virology, virus-cell interactions, and the development of vaccines and antiviral drugs for several viruses, including hepatitis E virus, Zika virus, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus, and SARS-CoV-2.
