Biography

I am a Senior Research Fellow working on a range of international and UK-based research projects in the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SoGEES), where I am also a member of the Centre for Research in Environment and Society (CeRES). My research interests and expertise are centred on understanding the relationships between society, economy and environment. I am particularly interested in communities and resilience, stakeholder engagement and partnership working, governance and participation, and I support qualitative research method development in those areas of interest. I teach on a range of modules at undergraduate and Masters levels, including environmental management, research methods and field work skills. My background prior to academia included agricultural research and rural community development work (LEADER II Rural Development Programme), giving me more than 20 years of practical engagement experience at community level. I am a Trustee of Beaford Arts and an Adjunct Faculty Member, School of Business and Humanities, Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Tanzania.
