Biography

Dr. Raghubendra S. Dagur is an instructor at the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of extracellular vesicle (EV) biogenesis, HIV-associated alcoholic liver disease, and neuropathogenesis; EVs as biomarkers and therapeutics; HIV and immunogenicity; HIV-1, HBV, and HCV mono- and coinfections; humanized mouse models; and alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver diseases. His current project aims to assess the potential role of EVs in HIV-1 infection in the presence or absence of drug abuse, both in vitro and in vivo. Dr. Dagur carried out his post-doctoral training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and studied HIV immunopathogenesis in humanized mouse models and the EV-mediated crosstalk of CNS cells in vitro and in an HIV-transgenic rat model.
