Dr. Olimpia Mamula Steiner is a Full Professor at the Institute of
Chemical Technology at the Haute École d'Ingénierie et d'Architecture de Fribourg
HEIA-FR, part of the University of
Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO). She holds a Master’s
degree in Environmental Engineering from EPFL (félicitations
du jury), earned through a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, and a
PhD in Chemistry from the University of Fribourg, where she received the
Vigener Prize for the best doctoral thesis. After a postdoctoral fellowship
with Prof. Constable at the University of Basel, she was appointed Maître Assistante at UNIL and EPFL,
establishing her research group and program in the field of diastereoselective synthesis of lanthanide
supramolecular systems, supported by competitive grants from the Swiss
National Science Foundation (SNSF). After
a period in industrial R&D as head of the lubrication materials section at
The Swatch Group, she joined HEIA-FR in 2009. Since then, she has led numerous
research projects funded by industry partners, Innosuisse, HES-SO, and SNSF.
Her research focuses on the synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds, as
well as functional (nano)materials for a wide range of applications, including
smart labeling, inkjet printing inks, and antibacterial and anticancer agents.
For more information, visit her ORCID profile. A selection of non-confidential projects is
available there.
