Biography

I am a Senior Researcher at the University of Pisa (Italy), Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine. My scientific activity focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying pathological cell activation and phenotypic modulation, investigated through advanced proteomic and biochemical approaches. Over the past two decades, I have mainly concentrated on the vascular pathophysiology, applying proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics to identify molecular biomarkers of disease onset and progression. I have gained expertise in the development and characterization of 2D and 3D in vitro models, including co-cultures and systems derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), to reproduce the complexity of human tissues and evaluate drug cardiotoxicity and vascular dysfunction. Her work also includes studies on extracellular vesicles, elucidating their roles in cell communication, inflammation, and as vehicles of diagnostic biomarkers. Author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications, she serves as reviewer for international journals and national research programs (MIUR). My scientific interests lie at the intersection of cellular biology, omics technologies, and regenerative medicine, with a long-standing commitment to translating molecular insights into clinically meaningful outcomes.
